Six silver medals for local coffee growers at Sydney Royal Fine Food Show 2016

“This demonstrates again what great coffee is produced in the region by local growers”, commented Jan Fadelli, ASTCA President, about the results at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show 2016. Three local coffee growers gained not only six silver medals but also five bronze medals.
Most successfull were Jenni and Toni Rogers from High Trees Estate at Dalwood with four silver medals and five bronze medals. A great achievement because over 300 different roasted coffees were entered in the ten classes for the competition. In the “Espresso Blend” class they got two silver medals with two blends, one silver medal in the“Latte 100%” Australian Single Origin” class and one silver medal in the “Plunger” class. They scored five bronze medals in the classes “Espresso Single Origin”, “Latte Blend”, “Latte 100% Australian Single Origin”, “Plunger “ and “Plunger 100% Australian Single origin”.
Jos and Wendy Webber of Kahawa Estate near Tintenbar got a silver medal in the “Plunger 100% Australian Single Origin” class. They achieved the best score in this category.
David and Lindsay Ashton of Ashtons Australian Coffee at Koonorigan also gained a silver medal in the “Plunger 100% Australian Single Origin”. They scored second best in this category.

ASTCA at Sample Food Festival in Bangalow

For the fourth time ASTCA will be showcasing 100% locally grown coffee from different subtropical growers at this years Sample Food Festival in Bangalow. If you are a coffee lover please mark the 5th of September in your calendar, you will get the unique opportunity to taste locally grown coffee directly from the local growers. You will also meet the growers and learn more about how coffee is grown and processed and you will be able to purchase retail packs of coffee so that you can continue to enjoy our wonderful coffees in the comfort of your home! Look out for the ASTCA banner with the slogan: “Locally grown coffee”

The Sample Food Festival is a celebration of the creativity, diversity and craft of local food and drinks and attracted about 15, 000 visitors last year. Sample Food Festival is held in the historic village of Bangalow and is supported by 200 stall holders who include local restaurant owners, farmers and local food producers.

Two GOLD medals for local coffee growers at Hobart Fine Food Show


At the 2014 Royal Hobart Fine Food Awards Coffee Competition local coffee growers/roasters  gained not only two gold medals, but also eight bronze medals for their coffee. The coffee competition did attract this year over 200 entries of some of the world’s best coffees and is one of Australia’s longest-standing coffee judging events.

For members and their guests – enjoy a Sunday morning at Zentveld’s coffee plantation, and celebrate with ASTCA the launch of the “Australian Subtropical Grower’s Manual” on August 31st, 2014 from 9.00am till 12.30pm as part of Zentveld’s 21st anniversary celebrations at Broken Head Road Newrybar.

You will not only be able to taste different locally grown coffees, but also in many ways as possible.
